Don't see a class you're interested in?  Let us know what you have in mind, and we'll see if we can work up a learning experience that fits the bill.

Tools to Donate?

We always have a few things we need in the wood shop- If happen to be in the giving mood  check in with us and see how you can help!

Current Needs:

  • Wood Jointer
  • 12" Miter Saw
  • 20" Helical Head Planer
  • Orbital Hand Sander (always helpful)
  • Wireless Hand Drill - with good batteries (always helpful)

We have a cornucopia of tools in our woodshop available to members once they have taken the wood safety class. This area allows up to three persons to use the woodshop area. Members must be checked off on all woodshop tools before scheduling this area!

Members are responsible for cleaning all equipment used in this area before they leave. This includes sweeping the floor, vacuuming all tools used as well as COVID-19 sanitation protocols. The general rule is to leave it better then you find it. Remember to check all tools before using and report all broken tools in this area to info@yakimamakerspace.org, do not attempt to repair a tool unless you have the express permission to do so. Remember all members must maintain social distancing of 6 feet with any other member while in the space at all times. No food or drink allowed, and members are required to take out their own trash.

The woodshop is a popular area at YMS and it requires tool maintenance as well as expensive insurance.  Sanding disc and saw blades wear and need to be replaced. If you wish to donations by maintaining the equipment you are welcome to buy supplies for your community shop if you feel so inclined.
